Citing his more than three decades of legal experience and enduring bond to our community, Sammy Accardo announced today that he is a candidate in the Tuesday, November 3, 2026, election for Judge of Division C for the 40th Judicial District/St. John the Baptist Parish.
“Being a lifelong resident of the River Parishes, I have a deep understanding of and appreciation for local issues, customs, and, above all, the people of our area,” Accardo said. “My more than 30 years of wide-ranging legal experience has thoroughly prepared me to serve you as judge as there is hardly a legal matter existing that I do not have experience with. This valuable insight uniquely qualifies me to render fair and impartial decisions in any issue that could come before the court.”
Accardo pointed out that his work in countless courtrooms across the country has provided him with the ability to know the difference between a person who has made a mistake and needs guidance and a hardened criminal who must be punished. “As judge, I will be fair, but firm,” Accardo said.
As managing Partner of Accardo Law Firm, he has expertly and successfully represented hundreds of clients, including private citizens, government, businesses, organizations and corporations in St. John, The River Parishes, Louisiana, across the United States and abroad. Accardo has skillfully guided clients through litigation, contracts, successions, corporate matters, insurance issues, hurricane claims, real estate and just about any other legal matter imaginable. As a licensed title agent and owner of Progressive Title Company, he assisted numerous local people and families with home purchases and property transfers. His business model has always been: “Solve the problem, don’t manufacture litigation.”
Accardo’s vast legal experience includes knowledgeably handling numerous motions, bench, and jury trials across state district courts as well as cases through the Louisiana Courts of Appeal. For more than 25 years, he has been admitted to, and has practiced in, all federal courts in the state. He has extensive mediation experience, solving issues and settling cases to the satisfaction of all parties involved without costly and lengthy legal proceedings.
He has served as a Business Law Instructor for the Louisiana Community College system, been guest speaker at Career Day programs at schools, is a member of the National Business Advisory Council, the Louisiana and National Bar Associations and serves on the boards of various local non-profit organizations. Accardo grew up in LaPlace and graduated from St. Charles Catholic High School, earned an undergraduate degree from LSU in Baton Rouge in 1991 and obtained a juris doctorate from The Southern University Law Center in 1994.
